Unpack a Spring Picnic at Dietz Park May 31, 2021 thumbnail of Unpack a Spring Picnic at Dietz Park

Whether you have kiddos who need to get out a little energy or want to meet friends for an outdoor picnic to start the season off right, Dietz Park is the perfect place. This local park on the 4100 block of Oliver Street isn’t usually that crowded because honestly not many know it’s there! You can enter at Oglethorpe Street about one block down from 42nd Street. There isn’t a parking lot, you’ll have to find street parking. But that’s a small price to pay for the fun you’ll have.

For those with kids, there’s a great little playground with seating areas for mom and dad to hang out with friends and chat while the kids play on the swings and playscapes. It’s ideal for warm-weather fun because it’s all shaded by trees so you can avoid the heat and sunburns! If you’re there in the evening definitely bring bug spray as the woodsy area does attract some bugs. Regardless, it’s the best place to gather without crowds this upcoming season!
